Things To Do If You’re a Suculent

My class was also learning about photography this year so we went out on our school campus and took photos of nature. We also read a poem called “Things To Do If You’re a Pencil” and made pieces like that inspired by are photo. Here are mine…

Things to Do if You’re a Succulent

Hold water.
Wear sharp layers and stand out.
Suck up little bits of rushing water, catch a person’s eye, then grow, grow, grow.

Children’s Museum

This year my class went to the children’s museum. After we came back we made these reviews and a creative pieces. These are mine…

The Only 3 floors and so much packed in to the NEW Children’s Museum! On the first floor my favorite exhibit was Re-connecting to home. Oh my gosh 4 floors in the “HOME Tower.” The first floor of the home tower is level E. In that level there is a cool tube that balls come from the other tube on level M. On level M there is too much to explain but there are stairs leading up to level O. This is my favorite level on the home tower, on this level O there are really soft orange walls that fill the whole level. The last floor in the home tower is H the balcony with star sliding doors. Another exhibit is the Wonder Sound. (It’s on the third floor). One of my favorite rooms in the exhibit is the Spoon Room. In this room there’s more than 50 spoons on the ceiling! Another part of the Wonder Sound is… A rope wall with giant ropes tied together. When you climb up there’s a rope bridge with pillows on top that leads to a big room with ropes. Trying to climb across I felt like a polar bear climbing across the ice. The next exhibit we went to was the Rain House! In the house there are fabric tiers and bananas. The tiers are fun because you can get stacked up inside of them then you can get knocked over. Parking? It’s a little bit of a hassle but two things; there is a parking lot and it is worth it. How much does it cost your asking? Only 6 dollars for kids to get into the museum, amazing right?!?!?! One more thing you should know. You should probably go for more than 2 hours because for us there was so much to do and not enough time to do everything that we wanted to do. Those are my top reasons why I think you should go to the New Children’s Museum

Hoot a Poem

Hoot, hoot
the owl sings
softly through
the shiny night sky.

Pluto Finds A Way

Our class learned a lot about space this year and to go with the space theme we made writing that every new paragraph starts with something finds a way. We were inspired by Cindy Jenson-Elliott and her book “Weeds Find A Way.” It was so fun to make them. Here is mine.

Pluto found a way to get demoted, being too small, made of rock and ice, and more.
Pluto found a way to cross Neptune’s orbit, possibly getting pushed into that elliptical orbit which crosses Neptune’s.
Pluto found a way to be freezing, being the farthest demoted planet is hard work. Never being warm must be annoying.
Pluto found a way to have at least 3 moons, Charon is about half the size of Pluto and is Pluto’s biggest moon.
And that is how Pluto found a way.

Solar System Comic

This year my class made comics with an app called “Comic Life”. This app lets you make different formats of panels like two than two than two down in rows. With the panels you can have loose panels too. My comic is about the ” ex-planet” Pluto. Hope you like it!

Vocabulary Story: The Camp Predicament

Every week my class has a tricky vocabulary word and we try to guess the word by the context on the morning message. For each word we make up a move for the word on Friday when the word is revealed. My teachers challenged our class to make a story with ten or more words so here is mine.

Two kids started a spring camp. They were striving to find kids that wanted to come. They were also very vigilant when they counted the kids. One of the days they had seven kids both instructors counted. Both got six but seven kids came to camp that day. They were all aghast. Their predicament started then. That day was at the park so they scrutinized all of it. They where contemplating how to find the child. They kept diverging from the plan they came up with before that one. They were in a haste because camp was almost over. One instructor looked up in the tree and…sitting, eating a snack and being tranquil. They were all amazed that the camper was that adept at climbing trees. At pick up the instructors did not tell the camper’s mom what had happened that day.

Storybird

My class made a story in an app called Storybird. Storybird is a place that you can make stories like a book in a store (but you can not accomplish that in Storybird ). In Storybird you have steps. 1st, you look at the pictures (there are two ways to find pictures you can search one or two words or you can go by artist but I searched dancing). 2nd, what is your story about? 3rd iterations. To find Storybird you search storybird.com! It took perseverance and at first my story was a fledgling story but then it was prodigious because I never gave up. Mine was called “The Whimsical Dance Routine”. I loved my story at the end and I hope you will too!

Two Voice Poem

In our class we wrote a Two Voice Poem. We all had to make it about a marine mammal. My animals were seal and sea lion. My partner was Rowan. He had a fish and tiger shark. We had a mentor text, the writer was Paul Fleischman. We had the poem fireflies to study. It took a lot of practice. At first it was a fledgling poem but then it was prodigious. In my poem I am the seal and Rowan is the sea lion. I think my poem turned out great!

The Lagoon Field Trip

In our class we went on an amazing field trip to the lagoon. It was a nice day and it was serene. I saw a beautiful white egret, a fast lizard, fiddler crab (I though it was interesting that the fiddler crab was a real crab), and we saw a king snake. My favorite was the egret, I thought it was mating. We also took field notes. Field notes are where we take field notes of what we see. It was not fresh water it was not salty water it was brackish water brackish water is both. We all used binoculars, my partner was Alex. In my car was Max, Gus, Alex and me. By the way we went to the San Elijo lagoon. I heard many amazing sounds. It was so so fun.
